Seniors - Children aged 13+ years

Our mantra at Rhythm Nation Studios is to Inspire, Motivate and Create. We have very passionate teachers that deliver top quality dance instruction without the high pressurisation for results, we want every dancer to develop and grow at their own rate and feel safe to really let go and have fun within our classes! Our seniors tend to have come to us at a beginner/junior level and then work their way up through their training with us and so our senior classes are all high ability. However, if you have a child who wants to start dancing at 13+ years of age it’s never too late! We recommend you get in touch with us before booking a taster class online to discuss the best start for your dancer.

Seniors have the optional opportunity to take exams under the IDTA syllabus if they so wish, or simply come to class and enjoy the class week to week without going through the grading systems. We also offer performance opportunities locally by taking all pupils to a theatre for our showcase! (Again, don’t worry, everything is optional!) We strictly limit our class numbers to 16 only per class to ensure each and every dancer gets the attention and experience they deserve. We allow seniors to attend our classes without being accompanied by a parent/guardian and relax in our waiting areas unattended, as long as permission is provided from the parent/guardian.

You’ll only be able to book certain styles through our online booking system, for any other styles, please use the contact form and get in touch with a member of staff.

Ballet

Ballet is the core of all dance styles and we strongly recommend all dancers try Ballet. It’s fundamental for developing strength, flexibility, developing posture, and teaches great discipline. Pupils have the option to go through the grading system under the IDTA Syllabus or simply to come to class and enjoy meeting new friends and develop in confidence grace and musicality. Our classes honour the classical art form of Ballet whilst being fun at the same time. Senior pupils will need to contact a member of staff to book a taster session. Tap

Tap is a fantastically artistic dance style which is great for developing a dancer’s rhythm and coordination, and can be very exhilarating to watch. This class is great for bringing out the inner performer and developing confidence as we look at all three styles of performing. Pupils will have the option to go through the grading system under the IDTA Syllabus or simply to come to class and enjoy meeting new friends and develop in confidence and enjoy class.

Acro

Acro is a dance form that incorporates impressive tricks into dance sequence such as bridges, walkovers and free handed cartwheels. We follow a mixture of the IDTA Acrodance syllabus and the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus which takes them through the progressions working on the 5 key areas of acrodance- Strength, Flexibility, Balancing, Tumbling and Limbering. Senior pupils will need to contact a member of staff to book a taster session. Please use the contact form or give us a call.

Contemporary Jazz

Contemporary Jazz is a balletic form of dance that incapsulates the story of the song. A little more free than Ballet, but ballet training is essential to achieve the most from this class. We recommend you study Ballet alongside most disciplines, but especially Contemporary Jazz. This class follows the IDTA Contemporary Jazz Syllabus and so examinations are available if the pupil wishes.
